Our story
From the storm on deck to skin purity.
For twelve years, my office was the deck of an Icelandic trawler in the North Atlantic. Most would never go there.
The beginning
The ocean protects its own.
Cold Ocean Elements began on the deck of an Icelandic trawler. Twelve years at sea taught its founder a single truth: the ocean protects its own. In water that rarely rises above eight degrees, kelp grows dense with the compounds that let it survive frost, darkness and heavy surf.
We harvest those marine ingredients by hand along the Icelandic coast, keep them cold from the first hour, and work them gently into skincare made for modern skin. Nothing rushed. Nothing overstated. Just the cold ocean, carefully kept.
How we work
Wild-harvested. Cold-processed. Uncompromised.
Wild Harvest
Our kelp is hand-harvested by a small team of Icelandic divers at depths of 8–15 metres along the North Atlantic coast, always leaving root structures intact to ensure full regeneration within 90 days.
Cold Extraction
Within hours of harvest, raw material enters cold extraction. Processing below 40°C preserves the full spectrum of bioactive compounds — polysaccharides, amino acids, and rare mineral complexes — that heat would destroy.
Scientific Formulation
Our in-house team of cosmetic chemists works to achieve precise active concentrations — high enough to deliver measurable results, balanced to respect the skin's natural barrier.
Quality Control
Every batch is reviewed for consistency, stability, and purity before release. We do not release a formula until it meets our internal standards.
What we believe
Principles that guide every decision
Ocean stewardship
Radical transparency
Full ingredient disclosure and traceable sourcing on every product. No proprietary blends. No hidden fillers.
Sustainable packaging
All primary packaging uses recycled ocean-bound plastic or glass. We are working to reduce packaging weight and eliminate single-use materials across our range.
The Ocean's Pace
We do not rush nature. We wait for it.
Every kelp frond is harvested at the precise moment the spring tide recedes — not a day earlier, not a season later. Our marine collagen is drawn only from the coldest winter waters, when the ocean's chemistry reaches its annual peak. We have built our entire process around the sea's own calendar.
Slow craftsmanship is not a marketing position. It is a constraint we have chosen to honour. When the season is wrong, we do not harvest. When the weather turns, we wait. The ocean sets the schedule — and we have learned, over years of working these shores, that its timing is always right.
The sea does not negotiate its seasons. Neither do we.
The ocean gives. We give back.
Every ColdOcean product is a commitment — to your skin, and to the waters that make it possible.
